Circus Peanut Feedsack Bandana

Part of our collection, “Sail Away,” this bandana features an elephant escaping the circus. It was inspired by 1930’s feedsacks.

During the Great Depression, staple foods like flour and sugar were packaged in cotton bags called feedbacks. When money was tight, people would collect the fabric from multiple sacks and patch it together to make clothing. Our imagined feedsacks originally contained circus peanuts, and we pieced them together to create a bandana.

Some of our favorite childhood memories are shopping excursions with Mom. She’d always pick up a bag of circus peanuts or orange slices. We used to sneak bites while walking down the aisles, usually polishing off the entire bag in the car before arriving home to unpack our groceries and crafts.

Designed in collaboration with print designer Anna Degnbol (@annadegnbol), this bandana comes in two delicious colorways: Candy Apple and Mint Chip.

• 100% US cotton, made in USA 
• 25” long
• Garment dyed, discharge printed
• Garment washed for a soft finish
• Machine wash in cold water with like colors. Air dry.
